Objective -- The objective of the GeoWall competition is to design and build a model mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall using paper reinforcement taped to a posterboard wall facing. This competition has the following objectives:

a.   to use the least amount of reinforcement needed to support the retained soil;

b.   effectively communicate the design, including calculations and drawings;

c.   provide for friendly but spirited competition between MidPac schools; and

d.   provide a geotechnical learning opportunity for students.

Design Poster Submission: The complete Design Poster must be submitted in PDF format via email to Fresno State, ([email protected]) by 6:00 pm PST March 28, 2014 (the Friday prior to the MidPac competition).  Subject line must include “2014 MidPac GeoWall Submittal.”  The Sender will receive confirmation of receipt by e-mail.  Any changes or corrections made to the design and design poster after this time will incur a penalty (see Section 12).  The design poster must be submitted in a single PDF format file with a filename of 2014GeoWall.pdf.
