Purpose

The purpose of this challenge is to give students an opportunity to gain experience in transportation engineering. This challenge incorporates geometric design, traffic engineering, and surveying techniques to challenge students with a real world transportation engineering situation.

Problem Statement

A public agency has requested conceptual designs and plans from several consulting firms. This agency is proposing the development of a rural highway in the Fresno County area. Participants are to design the roadway including horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, striping, signage, design speed, curve warning speeds, and cross-sectional details.
