A material may be added to the collection bin, however this material should not influence the judge’s ability to measure the time it takes for the first gallon of treated water to come out of the system. If the judge overseeing your team’s pouring believes his or her ability to measure the first gallon has been hindered, then your team forfeits all the possible points that may be awarded for retrieving the first gallon as specified in Section J. Scoring, Part B. Speed and Efficiency of the Water Treatment Rules.
